Self-direction, knowing yourself, meaning, decisions, problem solving, uncertainty, goals, planning, motivation, reflection, change, setbacks, vision, life transitions and priorities, in 102 lessons across 16 modules. Each lesson ends with a practical action, and six guided tools help you think through a real decision, plan or experience.
The life navigation loop
Every module teaches one part of a single loop. You go round it many times — in different parts of your life, at different speeds.
- Understand — Know yourself and your current situation.
- Choose — Clarify what matters and choose a direction.
- Decide — Make decisions and accept trade-offs.
- Plan — Turn direction into concrete actions.
- Act — Take the next step.
- Observe — Notice what actually happens.
- Reflect — Learn from the experience.
- Adapt — Change the plan when reality changes.
- Continue — Move forward.

The loop every other module hangs off
- Module 1 · The life navigation loop — Understand, choose, decide, plan, act, observe, reflect, adapt — and continue. You will have one simple loop for moving through any part of your life, and know which part of Journey helps with each step. (6 lessons)
Direction
Self-direction, values, identity, purpose
- Module 2 · Self-direction — Deciding where you want your life to go — without needing the whole map. You will be able to name what matters to you, tell your own expectations from other people’s, and choose a next meaningful direction even when you feel lost. (6 lessons)
- Module 3 · Knowing yourself — Your patterns, strengths, interests and energy — understood, not judged. You will recognise your own patterns, know where your energy and interest come from, and hold your identity and your past more lightly. (6 lessons)
- Module 4 · Meaning, purpose & a good life — Investigating what makes a life worth living — not being told. You will have thought carefully about meaning, purpose and success, met several traditions’ answers, and started writing your own. (6 lessons)
Thinking & Decisions
Decision-making, uncertainty, biases, problem-solving
- Module 5 · Making decisions — How to think through a decision — not what to decide. You will know what makes a decision hard, how to weigh trade-offs and consequences, which mental traps to watch for, and how to review a decision without endless second-guessing. (10 lessons)
- Module 6 · Solving problems — Finding the real problem before solving the wrong one. You will define problems clearly, tell symptoms from causes, break big problems down, test your assumptions with small experiments, and know when to simplify or ask for help. (5 lessons)
- Module 7 · Living with uncertainty — Good navigation does not require perfect certainty. You will act on incomplete information without recklessness, know when you have researched enough, treat choices as experiments, and change your mind without shame. (5 lessons)
Goals & Action
Goals, priorities, planning, execution, motivation
- Module 8 · Goals & direction — Choosing where you are going, turning it into this week’s action, and knowing when to keep going or let go. You will turn wishes into goals, choose fewer of them, handle goals that conflict, measure progress honestly and let a goal go on purpose when it no longer fits. (8 lessons)
- Module 9 · Planning & doing — How intentions become reality — realistic plans, focused days, finished things. You will turn a goal into a project and a next action, plan a week and a day that fit your real capacity, protect your attention, and adjust the plan when reality changes. (7 lessons)
- Module 10 · Motivation & action — How to keep moving toward something that matters when motivation comes and goes. You will stop waiting to feel ready, reduce the friction in front of what matters, understand avoidance and procrastination, and recover quickly after a missed day. (6 lessons)
Reflection
Journaling, reviews, learning from experience
- Module 11 · Reflection & learning from experience — Experience → reflection → learning → adjustment → next action. You will reflect without ruminating, ask the questions that turn experience into knowledge, spot recurring patterns, and keep a review rhythm that fits your life. (7 lessons)
Growth & Adaptation
Resilience, change, setbacks, flexibility
- Module 12 · Adapting to change — A good life plan should be adaptable, not fragile. You will adapt to changing plans without losing your values, respond to surprises in both directions, and have a clear way to decide whether to persist, pivot or let go. (6 lessons)
- Module 13 · Setbacks & resilience — Practical ways to recover, keep perspective and start again. You will treat setbacks as feedback without blaming yourself, recover from disappointment, ask for support, and stay functional through hard periods. (6 lessons)
Future
Vision, long-term thinking, life transitions
- Module 14 · Vision & long-term thinking — Imagining possible futures, and building a life rather than collecting achievements. You will write a life vision that is honest rather than a fantasy, explore several possible paths, weigh short-term sacrifice against long-term benefit, and update the vision as you change. (6 lessons)
- Module 15 · Life transitions — For when you are between chapters — leaving one, not yet in the next. You will understand the shape of a transition, move through the uncertain middle, build a new routine, and rebuild a sense of direction on the other side. (6 lessons)
Life Choices
Trade-offs, priorities, ambition and the rest of life, defining success
- Module 16 · Priorities, trade-offs & life choices — Realistic life planning — not productivity obsession. You will accept that you cannot maximise everything, choose what matters now, say no with less guilt, and recognise when you already have enough. (6 lessons)
How each lesson works
Every lesson has three steps. Learn explains the idea, why it matters and shows a realistic situation read twice — the first read, and the same moment with the idea. Practise gives you a small exercise and questions to reflect on. Use gives you one practical action for the coming days and the part of your life to do it in.
Nothing here tells you which life decision to make or what your purpose should be, and nothing grades you. Where thinkers or researchers disagree, the lesson says so.
Practise
- Decision practice — Think a real decision through, step by step — without anyone telling you what to choose. (15 minutes)
- Next step finder — Turn a goal that feels too big into one action you can take this week. (10 minutes)
- The reflection loop — Turn one recent experience into something you know — and something you will do. (10 minutes)
- Future paths — Sketch three possible futures side by side, and see what each would ask of you. (20 minutes)
- Yes-and-no check — See what you are saying yes to, what it costs, and choose one thing to say no to. (10 minutes)
- The navigation check — Walk one part of your life through the whole loop — understand, choose, decide, plan, act, observe, reflect, adapt, continue. (15 minutes)
- How Life Navigation Lessons works — The loop, the lesson shape, and what this course will never do.
