Use a research dossier

The Investor Brief, what changed, conflicting sources, five source types, refresh reminders and asking the dossier.

Step 1: Read the Investor Brief

At the top: what we know, what changed, what is claimed, what remains unknown, important evidence, questions to investigate, contradictions, risks to examine and sources. It never says invest or pass.

Step 2: See what changed

What changed? compares the latest research on each section with the version before it — new findings, changed figures, events since, and findings no longer reported — each linked to its sources. Findings new since your last visit are marked New.

Step 3: Tell sources apart

Findings are grouped as Founder-declared, Web-sourced, Investor-recorded and Platform-derived. AI interpretation sits in its own dashed box — including any web finding with no source, or with a figure the source does not contain.

Step 4: Check sources and dates

Web research used — View sources lists each source with its category (Primary, Secondary, Community), the site, the date it was published if stated, and the date it was read.

Step 5: Handle conflicting information

When sources disagree, Conflicting information shows both sides as unresolved with a suggested way to verify. Research it, turn it into a question, or mark it resolved in your own words — nothing is resolved for you.

Step 6: Refresh a section

Each section shows when it was last researched. Refresh opens the run controls; Set refresh reminder brings it back on a date. Age alone never marks research as out of date.

Step 7: Track your questions

Questions we still need answered can be Still unknown, Partially answered, Answered, Needs founder confirmation or Needs external verification. Research this sends a question to the agent that can answer it, with what the dossier already knows.

Step 8: Link a finding

Link connects a finding to a question, a thesis, a diligence item or a decision on the deal.

Step 9: Ask this research

Ask a question about the dossier. Each part of the answer is labelled From this dossier, From your MFJ data, From a current web search or General knowledge. A web search runs only if you tick it.

Step 10: Watch it

Watch this company or Watch this market adds it to your watchlists with topics and a checking schedule.

Step 11: Log a reference call

Reference Research is a log you fill in yourself — nothing places the call for you.
