Keep up with competitors, your market and investors

Watchlists, an Intelligence Feed that says why each change appeared, saved sources checked for real changes, research questions and research history.

Step 1: Open the sections

In Research, the bar at the top has My research, Intelligence feed, Watchlists, Research questions, Saved sources, Research history and Research settings.

Step 2: Watch something

In Watchlists, choose New watch: a competitor, pricing, a market, customers, a community, a distribution channel, investors, funding, a technology, a regulation or your own topic. Pick the topics, how often (weekly at most) and how deep. Suggestions come only from your own records.

Step 3: Read the feed

Each item says what changed, its sources and dates, why it appeared, and what it may affect — for example your pricing assumption, or a decision you recorded. Regulation items say General information — verify with a qualified professional.

Step 4: Turn a finding into work

Open, Research, Watch, Save or Dismiss — or Turn into… a research question, an assumption, an experiment, a risk (you set its likelihood and impact), an investor lead, a distribution or marketing idea. Each shows what will be created, and waits for your Confirm.

Step 5: Watch a page for real changes

In Saved sources, save a page such as a competitor’s pricing page and turn on Watch for changes. MFJ compares its prices and headline each week and shows before and after — any other edit to the page is not a change.

Step 6: Watch a question

In Research questions, add a question like “Are competitors lowering prices?”. Each check says No material change detected, or New evidence found with the sources. Find something out works out which research a question needs and files the runs under one project.

Step 7: See versions and freshness

Research history shows every version of each piece of research, what changed between the last two, and how long ago it was done. Past its window it says it may need refresh — Refresh or Ignore. Old is never called wrong.

Step 8: Control cost and noise

Research settings has pause, a weekly digest (the default), the notification level and a weekly search budget. Deep checks never run on a schedule — each one asks you first.
